I.O. Systems tray return reduces queuing time Dubai International Airport

A major airline hub in the Middle East, Dubai International Airport serves more than 70 million passengers a year, flying them to over 260 destinations across 6 continents on more than 140 scheduled airlines. In 2014, DXB overtook London Heathrow as the world’s busiest international airport.

The airport’s world-class features include the world’s first and largest purpose-built A380 facility Concourse A, opened in 2013. Its US$7.8 billion investment plan, including a state-of-the-art facility for international airlines, the expansion of Terminal 2, and the complete refurbishment of Terminal 1, put it on course to be one of the world’s most advanced airports by 2020, when passenger numbers are set to hit 100 million.

In 2014, I.O. Systems successfully completed a €15 million project, providing more than 100 automated tray return systems for use at security checking areas at Dubai International Airport.

The tray return systems are specially designed machines that automate the delivery of trays to the top of the queue. In doing so, they speed the flow of passengers going through security.
